THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
FEAST<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The Transfiguration of the Lord on Mount Tabor came to strengthen the faith of the disciples, for trying times lay ahead: the Son of Man would be put to death and all that the human eye could see was weakness, humiliation and suffering. Beyond the shame of the cross, however, is the light and glory of Easter, and it is this that the Transfiguration reveals. It shows the disciples, and us, Christ’s divinity – he who is Light from Light – and anticipates the glory of Heaven.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Before listening to the Word of God take a moment to reflect. <\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n For what am I grateful to God for today? Where did I stray from God: through words, actions or things I did not do. How might I do better tomorrow? What grace do I ask from God in order to live more closely in his love? <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n You may wish to conclude by saying: <\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Lord Jesus, you have revealed yourself as the way to the Father: You have poured out on your people the Spirit of truth: You are the Good Shepherd, leading us to eternal life: O God, who in the glorious Transfiguration Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n A reading from the prophet Daniel 7: 9-10, 13-14<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n His robe was white as snow<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n As I watched:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Thrones were set in place I gazed into the visions of the night.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n And I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven, The word of the Lord.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Psalm 96: 1-2, 5-6, 9. R. vv. 1, 9<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n The Lord is king, most high above all the earth.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n The Lord is king, let earth rejoice, The mountains melt like wax For you indeed are the Lord Alleluia, Alleluia!<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n This is my Son, the Beloved: Alleluia!<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 17: 1-9<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n His face shone like the sun<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain where they could be alone. There in their presence he was transfigured: his face shone like the sun and his clothes became as white as the light. Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them; they were talking with him. Then Peter spoke to Jesus. \u2018Lord,\u2019 he said \u2018it is wonderful for us to be here; if you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.\u2019 He was still speaking when suddenly a bright cloud covered them with shadow, and from the cloud there came a voice which said, \u2018This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.\u2019 When they heard this the disciples fell on their faces overcome with fear. But Jesus came up and touched them. \u2018Stand up,\u2019 he said \u2018do not be afraid.\u2019 And when they raised their eyes they saw no one but only Jesus.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n As they came down from the mountain Jesus gave them this order, \u2018Tell no one about the vision until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.\u2019<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n The Gospel of the Lord. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n The Apostles’ Creed<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n I believe in God, I believe in the Holy Spirit, Pray for family and loved ones so that they may be held in God\u2019s compassionate care. Pray for other countries who are struggling with the effects of the COVID 19 virus. <\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n For those in authority: may they offer advice with care and integrity, may they seek to protect the poor and vulnerable. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n For all who work in healthcare: give strength to all who look after the sick so that they may bring comfort and relief to the suffering. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n For the Church: may she offer prayers and consolation for all those affected.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer<\/strong>. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n For our local community and all for those in need: may those who are isolated know the support and service of their neighbours. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Our Father, who art in heaven, I prostrate myself at your feet, O my Jesus, and I offer you the repentance of my contrite heart, which abases itself in its nothingness in Your Holy Presence. I adore you in the Sacrament of Your Love; I desire to receive You in the poor abode that my heart offers You. While waiting for the happiness of a Sacramental Communion, I want to possess You in spirit. Come to me, O my Jesus, that I may come to You. May Your love inflame my whole being, in life and in death. I believe in You. I hope in You. I love You. Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary, Living God, you walk alongside us and speak to us throughout the Scriptures. Your word is our path and your truth is our light. Intercede for us with your Son Jesus,
the Divine Physician,
for those who have fallen ill,
for those who are vulnerable,
and for those who have died.
Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick and seeking a cure.
Help us, O Mother of Divine Love,
to conform to the will of the Father
and to do as we are told by Jesus,
