This might include a crucifix, icon or another holy image, and a lighted candle.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Sign of the Cross&nbsp;<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. <br>Amen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Examen<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>Before listening to the Word of God take a moment to reflect.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For what am I grateful to God for today? Where did I stray from God: through words, actions or things I did not do. How might I do better tomorrow? What grace do I ask from God in order to live more closely in his love?&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>You may wish to conclude by saying:&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Lord Jesus, you have revealed yourself as the way to the Father:<br>Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You have poured out on your people the Spirit of truth:<br>Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You are the Good Shepherd, leading us to eternal life:<br>Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">First Reading<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\">A reading from the book of Genesis 17: 3-9<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color\"><em>You shall become the father of a multitude of nations.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Abram bowed to the ground and God said this to him, &#8216;Here now is my covenant with you: you shall become the father of a multitude of nations. You shall no longer be called Abram; your name shall be Abraham, for I make you father of a multitude of nations. I will make you more fruitful. I will make you into nations, and your issue shall be kings. I will establish my Covenant between myself and you, and your descendants after you, generation after generation, a Covenant if perpetuity, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. I will give to you and to your descendants after you the land you are living in, the whole land of Canaan, to own in perpetuity, and I will be your God.&#8217; <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>God said to Abraham, &#8216;You on your part shall maintain my Covenant, yourself and your descendants after you, generation after generation.&#8217;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Responsorial Psalm<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\">Psalm 104: 4-9. R. v.8<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Consider the Lord and his strength;<br>constantly seek his face.<br>Remember the wonders he has done,<br>his miracles, the judgements he spoke.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>O children of Abraham, his servant,<br>O sons of the Jacob he chose.<br>He, the Lord, is our God:<br>his judgements prevail in all the earth.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>He remembers his covenant for ever,<br>his promise for a thousand generations,<br>the covenant he made with Abraham,<br>the oath he swore to Isaac. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Gospel Acclamation<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\">Cf. Jn 6:63,68<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Glory and praise to you, O Christ!<\/strong><br>Your words are spirit, Lord, and they are life;<br>you have the message of eternal life.<br><strong>Glory and praise to you, O Christ!<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Gospel<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\">A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 8: 51-59<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color\"><em>Your father Abraham rejoiced to think that he would see my Day.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Jesus said to the Jews:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&#8216;I tell you most solemnly,<br>whoever keeps my word<br>will never see death.&#8217;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Jews said, &#8216;Now we know for certain that you are possessed. Abraham is dead, and the prophets are dead, and yet you say, &#8220;Whoever keeps my word will never know the taste of death.&#8221; Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? The prophets are dead too. Who are you claiming to be?&#8217; Jesus answered:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&#8216;if I were to seek my own glory<br>that would be no glory at all;<br>my glory is conferred by the Father,<br>by the one of whom you say, &#8220;He is our God&#8221;<br>although you do not know him.<br>But I know him,<br>and if I were to say: I do not know him,<br>I should be a liar, as you are liars yourselves.<br>But I do know him, and I faithfully keep his word.<br>Your father Abraham rejoiced<br>to think that he would see my Day;<br>he saw it and was glad.&#8217;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Jews then said, &#8216;You are not fifty yet, and you have seen Abraham!&#8217; Jesus replied:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&#8216;I tell you most solemnly,<br>before Abraham ever was,<br>I Am.&#8217;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At this they picked up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself and left the Temple.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Profession of Faith<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\">The Apostles&#8217; Creed<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I believe in God,<br>the Father almighty,<br>Creator of heaven and earth,<br>and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,<br>who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,<br>born of the Virgin Mary,<br>suffered under Pontius Pilate,<br>was crucified, died, and was buried;<br>he descended into hell;<br>on the third day he rose again from the dead;<br>he ascended into heaven,<br>and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;<br>from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I believe in the Holy Spirit,<br>the holy catholic Church,<br>the communion of saints,<br>the forgiveness of sins,<br>the resurrection of the body,<br>and life everlasting. Amen,<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Prayers<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Intercessions&nbsp;<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>Pray for family and loved ones so that they may be held in God\u2019s compassionate care. Pray for other countries who are struggling with the effects of the COVID 19 virus.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For those in authority: may they offer advice with care and integrity, may they seek to protect the poor and vulnerable.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For all who work in healthcare: give strength to all who look after the sick so that they may bring comfort and relief to the suffering.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For the Church: may she offer prayers and consolation for all those affected.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For our local community and all for those in need: may those who are isolated know the support and service of their neighbours.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Lord\u2019s Prayer&nbsp;<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Our Father, who art in heaven,<br>hallowed by thy name;<br>they kingdom come,<br>thy will be done<br>on earth as it is in heaven.<br>Give us this day our daily bread,<br>and forgive us our trespasses,<br>as we forgive those who trespass against us;<br>and lead us not into temptation,<br>but deliver us from evil.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Daily Prayer<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Stand by your people, Lord, who place all their trust in your mercy. Wash away the stain of our sins, make us live in your presence our whole life long, and bring us to the inheritance you have promised.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>We make our prayer through our Lord.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Memorare<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary,<br>that never was it known that anyone<br>who fled to thy protection, implored thy help,<br>or sought thy intercession was left unaided.<br>Inspired by this confidence, we fly unto thee,<br>O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do we come,<br>before thee do we stand sinful and sorrowful.<br>O Mother of the Word incarnate, despise not our petitions,<br>but in thy mercy hear and answer us. Amen<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Prayer for the Year of the Word<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Living God, you walk alongside us and speak to us throughout the Scriptures.<br>Your Son, Jesus Christ, listens to our hopes and fears and shows us how to live for one another.<br>Send us the Holy Spirit to open our hearts and minds, so that we may be your witnesses throughout the world.
